Major Russian Strikes Cut Power Throughout Ukraine's Capital

The country's energy systems have come under increased strikes in the past few days

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in blackouts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were injured while residents in eastern districts were left without electricity and faced problems to water systems, according to city officials.

Meanwhile, a minor was fatally injured in a different aerial attack in the southeastern region in the southeastern part, as reported by area administrators.

Moscow has increased strikes on electrical systems over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "concrete actions" from international partners to exert influence on Moscow.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the America, the EU and the Group of Seven - in delivering defensive weapons and implementing restrictions," he wrote in a public message.

He said that 450 drones and more than 30 rockets struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, characterizing such attacks as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were working to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles hit power facilities and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people injured in the assaults on the capital have been hospitalized, as confirmed by municipal representatives.

Area administrators said the metropolitan region came under significant strikes throughout the evening. A young boy lost their life and multiple civilians were wounded.

The strikes succeed evenings of aerial attacks in the area, sections of which remain under the control of Russian forces.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to detect.

Authorities told the media that Moscow was intentionally trying to damage the country's energy grid, with assaults already disrupting energy systems.

Officials stated utility staff and officials were preparing for more assaults.
